As someone said it’s a cross between a bun and an onion 😁. Bunions..! a nightmare among elderly and going to be elderly 🤭. It makes your life so hard that you can’t find the right footwear or your feet looks so ugly. What are bunions. It’s very commonly used word especially among older ages. To understand bunions we don’t need a degree but let’s try and understand just using our common sense. As we all know we are all born barefoot and we should be walking barefoot but the environment force us to use footwear to protect our feet. Now if we look at footwear that we used all our life they were all shaped pointed or curling inward. But if you notice your toes they curl outward. We got only two legs not four. That’s why we are given toes..! Toes are designed to stay wide on your feet to balance yourself and give you a good footing on the ground and it controls your walking pattern. As we have most of our footwear designed to be pointed or curling inward the footwear gradually force our toes to curl inward over lifetime. It’s a gradual process that happens unnoticed. As we all know our feet is constructed of pieces of bones connected through joints. It’s like a building made of metal and concrete. The very backbone or the strength of our feet are the pieces of bones beautifully arranged to help us walk as human. Footwear that we use from age 1 starts moulding the bones of our feet gradually curling them inward. When our toes wants to spread itself to give you a good footing the footwear forces them to stay inward curled in pressed together and they go through a gradual transformation. The very pieces of bones that makes your perfect feet go dismantled displaced rearranged redesigned. The toes start curling inward from the joints. The whole structure of our feet collapse. The more the toes are pushed inward by footwear the more the the big toe starts turning inward at Metatarsus area and it’s gets wider and wider and reach stage where you can’t find footwear that would fit your feet. So to conclude bunions are footwear made. They can never be inherited unless it’s a rare case. No one is born with bunions. We are all born with perfect feet like any other part of your body. It’s the footwear that we used in the past that redesigned and reshaped our feet. Don’t blame our ancestors. We can inherit a design of feet from our parents or grandparents but not bunions or ingrowing toenails or fungal infections. The very basic awareness that ‘footwear can influence the very formation your feet over lifetime’ is missing from our footwear using society. We need to start from children. They need to learn the safe use of footwear so that they have better feet as they get older. From age 1-20 is the time when our feet gets its shape then onwards it needs to stay wide without being obstructed by any force from footwear. Suitable footwear rather than fitted footwear that’s what we need for our feet. 90% of the issues found on feet are related to ill fitting footwear and bunions are not excluded ..! happy feet happy you.😊🙏🏻
